Half-convertible and SUV set to arrive at Porsche dealerships in April
Porsche unveiled the new 911 Targa 4 GTS at the Detroit auto show on Monday. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the half-coupe/half-convertible. It was flanked by a new, 570-hp Cayenne Turbo S SUV.
The new GTS delivers 430 hp from its 3.8-liter H6 engine. Sprint time is 4.1 seconds -- when equipped with the PDK transmission -- to 60 mph with help from all-wheel drive. Top speed is rated at 186 mph. The Targa GTS gets a unique set of centerlock wheels, along with black trim all around, including on the silver targa roll bar. The Sport Chrono Package, PASM and a sport exhaust system are all available.
Inside, buyers get four-way adjustable sport seats with a black GTS logo, black Alcantara and typical Porsche switchgear.
The 911 Targa 4 GTS goes on sale in late April for $133,795, including destination.
The Cayenne Turbo S gets a bump in output to 570 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque from its 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8. That’s 20 more hp and 37 lb-ft more torque than the previous engine. The Turbo S gets to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 176 mph. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes are standard and measure 16.5 inches in front and 14.6 inches in back.
Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control reduces roll, while Porsche Torque Vectoring makes specific brake interventions in the back to improve handling through turns. Porsche Traction Management keeps the rear wheels turning and sends power forward when the driver demands it with his or her right foot.
The Cayenne gets a full leather interior, with a Porsche logo on each of the headrests. Carbon-fiber accents complete the package. A new interior color combo -- black and cream -- makes its debut on the Turbo S.
The Cayenne will start at $158,295 and will also go on sale in April.
